Welcome

Welcome to the Lymington Decorative and Fine Arts Society Website. Lymington DFAS is the only New Forest area DFAS which meets in the evenings. On the second Wednesday of each month between September and June we look forward to a stimulating illustrated lecture after greeting old friends and welcoming new members over the introductory coffee.

We have enjoyed many splendid evenings so far this season. Recently we have been introduced to the amazing things which can be done with books and the startling variety of corkscrews invented over the years. Both Dominic Riley and John Ericson entertained and informed us in equal measure. The latest adventure was experiencing the Japanese Tea ceremony, in company with Keir Davidson.

Next month, our lecture will be given by Jo Walton, starting as usual with coffee at 7.00, followed by the lecture at 7.30. Miss Walton's title is "How to be Good - Storytelling and morality in Victorian narrative paintings' . Cads, bounders philosophers and fallen women will be some of the people we will meet, foreshadowing the modern day soap opera.

Other activities members of Lymington Decorative and Fine Art Society enjoy include include visits to interesting places, an annual lunch, a summer Cream Tea as well as the Christmas Party. We now have a date for our Highgrove visit (members - August 7th!) Having been given our date we have been able to arrange another visit during May, this time to Petworth House. The visit to Petworth is now fully booked. Our Spring Lunch Time Drinks Party on 18th April was much enjoyed by the members who came. The sun shone for a while and we really felt as if it were Spring. Our next Social event will be the Summer Cream Tea which will be on Tuesday 10th July.
